100ml vape juice bottles are known as shortfills. This is because the bottles are designed to leave a space at the top to allow the optional addition of nicotine. Shortfill e-liquids are sold with a nicotine free formula but can be mixed with nicotine shots (sold separately although bundles are also available) to add a nicotine content to the e-liquid if preferred.
A 100ml vape juice will contain 100ml of e-liquid in a 120ml bottle, leaving room for the addition of two 10ml 18 mg/ml nicotine shots to create 120ml of 3 mg/ml e-liquid overall. 100ml vape juices are always nicotine free and it is your choice whether to add nicotine or not.

100ml e-liquids are sold with a nicotine free formula, this is because UK vaping regulations only allow e-liquids that contain nicotine to be sold in 10ml bottles.
These e-liquids can be used straight away if you prefer a nicotine free e-liquid or can be mixed with nicotine shots to add a nicotine content if this better suits your needs.
What does ‘shortfill’ mean?
A bottle of 100ml vape juice is also commonly known as a shortfill. A shortfill describes a bottle of e-liquid which is larger than 10ml. They are called shortfills because they are filled short of the top of the bottle, to allow the user to add nicotine shots if needed.
For example, a 100ml vape juice will contain 100ml of e-liquid in a 120ml bottle, leaving room for the addition of two 10ml nicotine shots.
How do I add nic shots to 100ml vape juice?
100ml vape juice bottles have been designed to make it very easy to add nic shots, if desired. They have additional space in the bottle, which means there is room at the top for you to add more liquid in the form of nicotine shots. All you need to do is open up the bottle and add the number of nic shots you desire, depending on the nicotine strength you prefer. Shake the bottle to combine and then it is ready to use.
How many nic shots should I add to a 100ml e-liquid?
How many nicotine shots you should add depends on the overall strength that you need. Shortfill e-liquids are usually designed to be mixed to a 3 mg/ml strength. Meaning that enough room is left in the bottle to add as many nicotine shots as are needed to create a 3 mg/ml e-liquid.
If you prefer a lower strength, you can add less nicotine shots. However, for a higher nicotine strength you would need to decant some of the e-liquid to allow room for the additional nicotine shots. It is not recommended to exceed a 6 mg/ml strength in a shortfill, as this will substantially dilute the flavour.
Do I have to add nicotine to my 100ml vape juice?
No, 100ml vape juice bottles are designed so that you have the option of adding nic shots if you would like to, but you can absolutely use your vape juice as it is. This means you can enjoy a nicotine free vape juice in a handy 100ml bottle.
What are nic shots used for?
Nicotine shots, commonly referred to simply as nic shots, are a way to add nicotine to an e-liquid. This is because bottles of e-liquid larger than 10ml cannot contain nicotine at the point of purchase, and so shortfill e-liquids leave room for the addition of nicotine shots.
Nic shots are sold as 10ml bottles with an 18 mg/ml nicotine strength and are usually unflavoured, although some do offer a flavour finish to enhance the overall e-liquid, such as a cool finish or fizzy finish.
