Sub-ohm vape kits
Sub-ohm refers to advanced vape kits which tend to produce denser vapour clouds through a mixture of low-resistance coils, high power output and high VG e-liquids. This style of vaping is popular among intermediate & advanced vapers due to these devices offering extensive features. We offer a wide range of sub ohm advanced vape kits from leading vape brands such as VOOPOO, Geekvape and Vaporesso.
About Sub-ohm vape kits
Sub-ohming is most popular amongst intermediate to advanced vapers and describes the use of a coil with a resistance of less than 1 ohm, in combination with a vape mod with sub-ohm capabilities. Sub-ohm vaping is usually taken as a direct to lung inhale and most sub-ohm vape kits work best with high VG vape juice with a low nicotine strength - we would recommend 6mg or lower.
Sub-ohm vaping usually results in a larger cloud production and an advanced vape kit usually has quite wide airflow passages to allow air to circulate well throughout the coil. Those who seek out a device capable of producing large and dense clouds of vapour are referred to as cloud chasers, and are often hobbyist vapers who have been vaping for some time.
If you are looking for a starter sub-ohm kit as a way to get started with sub-ohm vaping, we would recommend taking a look at devices like the Vaporesso Armour G pod vape kit or the VOOPOO Argus Pro 2 pod vape kit, as these are all sub ohm devices that remain user friendly and are a good transition from a starter kit to a sub-ohm vape kit.
If you are looking for a more advanced sub ohm kit, you might want to consider something like the VOOPOO Drag 5 kit or Geekvape Aegis Legend 3. These are more advanced sub-ohm vape kits that offer the user many variables, such as external batteries, large wattage outputs and other changeable options such as variable wattage or temperature control.
If you are considering upgrading to an advanced vape kit, we offer a wide range of intermediate devices from top brands like SMOK, VOOPOO and GeekVape. Pop in to your local Evapo store and a member of our team will be happy to walk you through the options available and find a starter sub ohm kit to suit your needs and preferences. You can also shop our full range of products on our online vape store, where you can also find lots of helpful buying guides and video reviews.
Key features of sub ohm & advanced vape kits
-
High power output: advanced vape kits more often than not have high power outputs of 60 watts or more. This enables the device to produce vast amounts of heat quickly and therefore vaporise high VG e-liquids, which are thick in consistency, to produce large amounts of dense vapour.
-
Adjustable wattage & temperature control: sub-ohm vape kits may offer adjustable wattage so you can perfectly set your device to match your coils best range, increasing to produce more vapour quicker or decreasing to prolong coil life & reduce vapour production. Temperature control is a setting for advanced vape kits that allows vapers to set the exact temperature the tank reaches, for a more precise vaping experience.
-
Operating modes: advance vape kits can offer several operation modes such as variable wattage, temperature control, ECO for improved battery life, SMART to detect the best wattage for the inserted coil or memory modes to allow vapers to set their favourite settings and recall later.
-
Display screens: large display screens can be found on sub-ohm vape kits to allow users to see their remaining battery life, operating mode, wattage or temperature set & more. These screens tends to be larger than those found on intermediate & starter vape kits.
-
Battery options: some advance vape devices offer built-in batteries that are rechargeable, whilst others are for use with external rechargeable 18650 batteries. This allows vapers to switch batteries out anytime reducing the need to wait for your device to charge before vaping again.
-
Cloud chasing: advanced vape kits & sub ohm vape kits are most popular with vapers who want to produce large amounts of dense vapour clouds, known as ‘cloud chasers’. This is due to these kits producing high amounts of power heating the sub-ohm coils included to high temperatures, making them ideal for use high VG e-liquids.
-
Sub-ohm vape coils: each advanced vape kit includes sub-ohm vape coils with the device, usually with a 0.4 ohm resistance or lower, providing the perfect setup for vaping through high VG e-liquids. Find out more about high VG e-liquids from the Evapo blog: understanding VG and PG in e-liquids.
Sub-ohm vape kits FAQ
What does sub-ohm mean?
Sub-ohm simply means that the coil within the device has a resistance of less than 1 ohm. Sub-ohm coils usually lend themselves to a direct to lung vaping style and will create a larger cloud production than higher resistance coils.
A sub-ohm vape kit, normally referred to as an advanced vape kit, is a device which can facilitate sub-ohm vaping and uses a sub-ohm coil. These devices are best used with high VG containing e-liquids for producing dense vapour clouds.
How do I know if my vape kit is sub-ohm?
If your device uses a coil below 1 ohm, then it is classified as a sub ohm vape kit.
All of the devices in this category are sub-ohm & advanced vape kits so this can help you find them if this is a feature you are looking for in a new vape kit.
Are all sub-ohm vape kits for advanced vapers?
No, many intermediate devices are also sub-ohm vape kits and there are even a number of starter kits which have sub-ohm capabilities.
Advanced vape kits usually come with a choice of coils which are exclusively sub-ohm, often below 0.4 ohm, whereas starter vape kits may have a sub-ohm coil option but also higher resistance coil options.
What wattage should I use for a sub-ohm coil?
Each coil will have a recommended wattage range on the box and usually also printed on the side of the coil itself. This is the range at which the coil will perform at its best & we highly recommend sticking to this range to prolong your coils life.
Running it at a higher wattage than suggested will likely cause it to burn out faster or to even burn out straight away. Running it at too low of a wattage can cause leaking.
