What are e-liquids?
E-liquids are the substance that is vapourised within an e-cigarette, and they are available in a wide range of flavours, formulas, and nicotine strengths.
The tank or pod on an e-cigarette should be filled with e-liquid, which is then absorbed by the cotton within the coil. As the e-cigarette is used the coil heats up, vaporizing the e-liquid which can then be inhaled.
E-liquids have only a handful of ingredients, the main two of which are vegetable glycerine (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) which make up the base mix of all e-liquids. VG and PG are used as carriers for the flavours and nicotine, if included, to disperse them consistently throughout the overall e-liquid and create a consistency suitable for vaping.
Which type of e-liquid do I need?
Which type of e-liquid you need will depend on the type of device you are using.
E-liquids are available with different ratios of VG and PG, which changes the consistency of the e-liquid and makes them suitable for different types of vape kit.
Starter kits and pod systems utilise small coils which require a thin e-liquid consistency to offer the best vaping experience. These devices are best used with a 50/50 or high PG e-liquid, as the thin consistency of the e-liquid is easily absorbed by the small coil, allowing them to remain saturated with e-liquid and ensuring you do not experience dry hits and the coil lasts as long as possible.
Advanced and sub-ohm vape kits on the other hand need a thicker, high VG e-liquid due to the larger size of their coils. The thicker consistency of a high VG e-liquid allows the coil to absorb the e-liquid without becoming oversaturated, whereas, using a 50/50 or high PG e-liquid in these devices could cause leaking or spitting.

Which nicotine strength will best suit me?
When choosing your nicotine strength, the most important thing to consider is your previous smoking habits. How many cigarettes you smoked will help you identify the nicotine strength that will best satisfy your nicotine cravings as you make the switch from smoking to vaping. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend the following;
Heavy smoker - 20+ cigarettes a day: 18mg – 20mg Moderate smoker – 10 - 20 cigarettes a day: 10mg – 12mg Light smoker – 5 - 10 cigarettes a day: 6mg Casual smoker – Smokes few cigarettes or not every day: 0mg – 3mg If the strength you have chosen feels like it is too strong, or is not adequately satisfying your nicotine cravings, you can move up or down a strength to find a better fit.
