E-liquids have a specially designed formula for use in e-cigarettes to create a vapour. The tank or pod on your vape device can be filled with e-liquid, which is then absorbed by the coil housed inside. As the device is used the coil will heat up and vaporise the e-liquid, this vapour is then inhaled. E-cigarettes and e-liquids are designed as an alternative to smoking.
E-liquids contain few ingredients, all of which are food grade and safe for inhalation. The main two ingredients in e-liquid are vegetable glycerine (VG) and propylene glycol (PG), which are used as diluents to carry the flavouring and sometimes nicotine. Different flavourings are used to create the desired overall flavour, but they need to be diluted with VG and PG to taste pleasant and create a consistency suitable for vaping. Not all e-liquids contain nicotine, as this will depend on the preferences of the user, but e-liquids in the UK can be purchased with a nicotine content up to 20 mg/ml.
