About standard coils

All vape kits utilise a coil, and in many of them the coil can be removed and changed as and when it starts to burn out.

When you fire your vape kit this will send power to the coil, causing it to heat up. As the coil heats up it will vapourise the e-liquid in the tank or pod, creating the vapour that you inhale when vaping.

The coil is made primarily of metal and contains a wire coil or metal mesh surrounded by cotton. The cotton absorbs the e-liquid, but as it is repeatedly heated it will eventually start to burn out, effecting the flavour of the vapour. When your coil is starting to burn out you will be able to tell as the vapour will start to taste burnt or bitter, and at this point it is time to think about replacing the coil.

Each tank has a range of coils specifically designed to fit them, and unfortunately not all coils are compatible with all tanks. If you are unsure which coil is needed for your specific tank you can check the box it came in, pop in to your local Evapo store to speak to a member of our team, or reach out to our online customer service hub.

Our range includes coils that are compatible with all of the most popular vape kits from all of the biggest vaping brands.

Standard coils FAQ

What is a vape coil?

A vape coil is the part of an e-cigarette that is housed inside the tank or pod. It is comprised of a coiled wire wrapped in cotton and enclosed in a metal casing. As the vape kit is used, the wire inside the coil heats up.

The cotton in the coil is the part that absorbs the e-liquid, and as the metal coil heats up the e-liquid is vapourised and can be inhaled. Eventually, as the vape kit is used, the cotton in the coil will start to burn and this will affect the flavour of the vapour. This burnt taste is an indicator that it is time to replace the coil with a new one.

How long do vape coils last?

How long your coil will last depends on a wide variety of factors, from your individual usage to the e-liquid you are using. For example, if you are using your device very frequently the coil will not last as long as if you were a using it less frequently.

Simple steps like priming your coil and ensuring your tank is always at least half full with e-liquid can help to extend the life of your coil.

How do I make a vape coil last longer?

There are a few things you can do to try and maximise how long your coil will last, for example, making sure that your tank or pod is always at least half full with e-liquid so the coil is less likely to dry out between puffs, and priming the coil before you start to use it.

For lots of tips and tricks take a look at our blog post How to extend the life of your coil, or speak to a member of our team.

Can I use any coil in my vape kit?

No, vape coils are not universal and they can vary in shape and size quite a lot. If you are unsure which coils you need for your vape kit it will usually tell you on the box the device came in or in the instruction manual.

If you are still unsure you can take the device into your local Evapo store or contact our Customer Service team and we will be happy to help you identify the right coil for your device.
