There are so many different 50/50 vape juice options to choose from, how do you know which one will be right for you?
We’re taking a look at our picks for the best 50/50 vape juice for 2024, and delving deeper into the different vape juice ratios to help you understand which vape juice you need to use.
What is 50/50 vape juice?
If you are new to vaping you have probably had plenty of people recommending their favourite 50/50 vape juice, and may find yourself wondering what does 50/50 mean in vape juice?
50/50 refers to the vape juice VG/PG ratio, so lets take it back to basics and look at the ingredients that make an e-liquid.
The two base ingredients in all e-liquids are vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG), both of which are diluents used in many other day to day items, like soaps, medicines, and even foods. In vape juice they are used to dilute and carry the flavourings and nicotine, and create an overall consistency and formula that is suitable for vaping.
Propylene glycol, also known as PG, has a thin, watery consistency and is mainly responsible for carrying and evenly distributing the flavour concentrates and nicotine throughout the e-liquid. Whereas vegetable glycerine, or VG, has a thicker, syrupy consistence and is responsible for the vapour production.
50/50 e-liquid is simply a vape juice that contains equal parts VG and PG, giving it a thin consistency that is slightly thicker than water. So, if you’re wondering what’s the difference between 50/50 and 70/30 vape juice? The answer is the VG/PG ratio.
Why do e-liquids contain different ratios of PG and VG?
The reason that vape juices are available in different ratios, is because they are suitable for use with different types of vape kit.
50/50 e-liquids are best used with small vape devices like starter vape kits and pod kits, as their thin consistency is easy for the small coil inside these devices to absorb. This is important because it allows the cotton in the coil to remain well saturated, so you won’t get unpleasant dry hits or find your coil burning out faster than expected. These devices can also be used with high PG e-liquids, which contain a higher ratio is PG and have an even thinner consistency.
High VG e-liquids on the other hand, contain a higher ratio of vegetable glycerine which gives them a thicker consistency, suitable for use with sub-ohm and advanced vape kits. This is because these devices tend to have larger coils that can absorb the e-liquid much faster. The thick consistency of high VG vape juice, also known as 70/30 vape juice, allows the coil to absorb it quickly enough to remain saturated, but not so fast that it starts to leak out or spit.
Using the right vape juice ratio is important if you want to get the best vaping experience, and for your device to be able to work correctly.

Another unique point about the Double Brew range is that they are available in two different bottle sizes. Best 50/50 bar salt vape juice
Bar salts are a pretty new option on the vaping market, designed to replicate the taste and feel of using a disposable vape.
Although disposables are a very convenient option for times like nights out and short trips, when used all the time the price can add up, as can the plastic waste. More and more people are making the transition from using disposable vapes to a reusable vape kit, and bar salts like the IVG Salts Bar Favourites are here to make the transition easier.
They are available in all of the most popular disposable vape flavours, so you can start using a refillable vape kit while continuing to use the flavours you have come to know and love. There are so many bar salt options which have been released recently that we simply couldn’t choose just one!
Bar salts, as the name suggests, use nicotine salts just like the e-liquid found in disposable vapes, to offer a smooth feeling inhale and quick relief from cravings. However, unlike most disposables which are often only available in a 20 mg/ml nicotine strength, bar salts often offer a choice of different strength that makes them suitable for a wider range of vapers. For example, the RIOT BAR EDTN vape liquids are available in the choice of a 10 mg/ml or 20 mg/ml, offering a lower strength option for those who need it.
Some bar salts are actually produced by the same company that manufactures popular disposable vapes, so they are the exact same e-liquid. This is the case for the ELFLIQ and MARYLIQ ranges, who are produced by Elf Bar and Lost Mary respectively. This means that if someone has been using Elf Bar disposable vapes they can look to the ELFLIQ range to find the exact flavour, and the same with Lost Mary disposable vapes and the MARYLIQ range.
