Nicotine shots FAQ

What is a nic shot?

Nic shots are 10ml bottles of nicotine with a VG/PG e-liquid base. They are designed to be added to short fill bottles of e-liquid, so that you can add nicotine to nicotine-free e-liquids. These e-liquids come in short fill bottles, which have space left in them for the addition of a nic shot.

How much nicotine is in a nic shot?

Nicotine shots are usually sold with an 18 mg/ml nicotine strength. This means that when mixed into  a 50ml short fill, it will produce 60ml of 3 mg/ml e-liquid. For example, two 10ml nicotine shots mixed into a 100ml short fill will produce 120ml of 3 mg/ml e-liquid.

This is because when added to a short fill e-liquid the nicotine strength will be diluted by the e-liquid.

How to use a nic shot?

To use a nic shot, all you need to do is empty the nic shot liquid into your short fill bottle and shake it up to mix. Short fills are sold with enough space in the bottle to accommodate either one or two nic shots, depending on the volume. So, a standard 50 ml bottle will have space for one nicotine shot.

What ingredients are in a nicotine shot?

Nicotine shots contain the same ingredients as e-liquid: vegetable glycerine, propylene glycol, and nicotine. However, they are most commonly unflavoured so as not to alter the overall flavour of the e-liquid they are used in.

There are some exceptions to this, such as cool nic shots, which have a menthol flavour and are intended to both add nicotine and a menthol finish to the e-liquid.

Can you vape nicotine shots?

You can vape nicotine shots alone, however, as they are designed to be added to other e-liquids they do not usually have any flavourings added. When vaped alone they will have a subtle sweet flavour which is naturally provided by the vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol, but this will not be a strong flavour so you may be better off using a flavoured e-liquid.

It is important to bear in mind if you are vaping nicotine shots that they usually have an 18 mg/ml nicotine strength and are not available in lower nicotine strengths.

How do you add a nic shot?

To add a nicotine shot to a short fill start off by removing the lid and nozzle of both the e-liquid and the nicotine shot. You can then pour the entire nicotine shot into the e-liquid, you can pour in less if you want a nicotine strength lower than 3 mg/ml or are using a short fill smaller than 50ml. Once you have poured in the nicotine shot, pop the nozzle and lid back on your e-liquid bottle ensuring it is secure and give it a good shake to combine the nicotine throughout the e-liquid.
