I am writing regarding the recent concerning news about vaping which has dominated headlines.

Almost 350 cases of lung diseases related to 'vaping' have been reported in the US, as well as sadly six deaths. These incidents have all been linked to vaping, however this is misleading which some of the more considered media are now alluding to. These incidents appear to have nothing to do with nicotine vaping. These tragic cases appear to have involved illicit THC cartridges bought on the black market - not the type of product you could buy anywhere legitimately in the UK.

What is important to point out is that the US is a largely unregulated market. Here in the UK and Europe we are regulated since 2017 under the Tobacco Product Directive. This law requires every product to undergo meticulous testing, notification to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and bans certain ingredients like colourings, caffeine, taurine and diacetyl. Thanks to these strict measurements, you can be rest assured that all our products are thoroughly tested and meet safety standards.

In the US another notable concern is the link to teenage addiction from vaping. However the level of nicotine sold in the US is very much stronger than allowed in the UK and Europe. The problem of teenage addiction has not occurred in the UK where rates of vaping amongst young people remains at less than 2% and is almost exclusively confined to those who regularly smoke.

What has most likely caused the health complications within these THC cartridges is the use of a cutting agent called Vitamin E acetate. As part of a wider industry review last week in the UK, 23,000 products have been re-examined and none of them contained this ingredient. To be on the safe side, we highly recommend to only buy products from reputable retailers like Evapo.

The risk is that these negative headlines will discourage smokers from making the switch to vaping. British Heart Foundation maintains, quitting smoking is the single best thing smokers can do for their health and Public Health England has re-emphasised that vaping is at least 95% less harmful than smoking. There have been no reports of serious side effects from UK e-cigarettes.

I hope we were able to clarify and ease any concerns you might have had. Product safety and high quality standards are our highest priority. You can be confident that when you buy from Evapo the products are all regulated and genuine. If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us or check the Evapo blog for the latest updates.
