Health organisations are seeing the smoking rates in the UK falling at a fantastic rate, vaping is playing a big part in the decline! For the first time there are now more vapers in the UK than smokers.
More Vapers, Less Smokers!
Reports by ASH (Action on Smoking and Health) show that the number of people who have quit smoking and are currently vaping now outweighs the number of tobacco smokers.
- There are more than 1.5 MILLION smoke-free vapers in the UK
- Compared to the 1.3 MILLION people who are still smoking.
- The number of people using e-cigarettes has more than doubled in the past 5 years.
This is momentous considering that at its highest the UK’s smoking rates were as high as 82% for men in 1948 and 45% for women throughout the 60s.
Public Health England & E-Cigarettes
E-cigarettes have quickly become the most popular stop smoking aid in England. Public Health England (PHE) has recently published an article urging smokers to combine ‘the most popular with the most effective’ by pairing the use of e-cigarettes with face to face support from their local stop smoking service. They are also encouraging stop smoking clinics to ensure they are able to give patients the appropriate support when quitting with a vape device, and that clinics are e-cigarette friendly.
This includes staff maintaining up to date knowledge of vaping products and e-liquids and developing a relationship with local retailers.
Quitting Using E-Cigs
