Ernst & Young LLP (EY) were commissioned to develop a report outlining what the global vaping market looks like. This report has been released and gives an interesting insight into the current trends and preferences expressed by vapers all over the globe.

Helping People Worldwide to Give Up Smoking

Vaping has proved to be a rapidly growing market the world over, with the US, Japan, and the UK being identified as the three places with the biggest vaping markets.

There is now estimated to be over 35 million vapers worldwide, and we are proving that it is not just a ‘trend’ but a valid stop smoking aid. In the UK the number of vapers has recently grown to outweigh the number of smokers, which is a huge victory for both the industry and the health of our country.

Of the people, vapers involved in the survey 37% would refer to themselves as ex-smokers, while most others are using vaping to drop their tobacco consumption down slowly, many with the intention of completely quitting smoking in the future.

What Kind of Devices Do People Use?

The research has shown that only 16% of vapers use disposable e-cigarettes, which is not surprising as they can work out more expensive than their rechargeable counterparts and give the user very little room to personalise their vaping experience.

A further 35% of the vaping market use rechargeable starter kit type devices like the ones mentioned in our blog post ‘Top 5 Starter Kits of 2018’.

The rest of the worlds vapers are using intermediate to advanced kits either similar to the intermediate kits discussed in the ‘Top 5 Intermediate Vape Devices for 2018’ blog post, or more advanced devices such as mech mods.

Changes Vapers Want from the Market

The report found that although the tech in the vape market is advancing extremely quickly, there are still some things that vapers would like to see become available soon.

The main thing vapers would like to see is more flavour variety in e-liquids and also a wider range of nicotine strengths. As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life, and it is important to have a big range of e-juice flavours available, so people have the best chance for success when giving up smoking. That’s why at Evapo Vape Shops we stock over 200 different flavours of e-juice, so there is bound to be a perfect flavour for all of our customers.

However, the 84% of vapers who use e-liquid with a nicotine content are calling for a wider range of nicotine strengths than the ones currently available. The most common nicotine denominations are 3mg, 6mg, 12mg, and 18mg although there are some brands that use different strengths to this. Two strengths that are often requested are a 9mg and a 15mg.

The results of the survey have certainly been eye-opening, especially in showing us how popular vaping has become. It has helped show that vaping is an effective and beneficial stop smoking aid, and especially here in the UK, it is changing lives!
