About Pen vape kits

Vape pen starter kit devices are a popular style of device for many new vapers. Their sleek and simple design means they fit easily in to a pocket or bag for easy storage on the go, and the cylindrical pen style vape feels comfortable in the hand for new vapers who are making the switch from smoking. Most pen style devices have a compact internal battery, easily charged using a micro USB cable, for straight forward all day vaping.

There are two main types of vape pen kit; the all in one devices where the tank section is built on to the battery, meaning the tank is designed specifically to work in perfect harmony with the battery design, but the tank cannot be removed and replaced with another; or vape pens where the tank and battery are separately designed, meaning the tank can be used on other batteries, and vice versa.

Pen style vape kits make fantastic starter kits as they are easy to set up, with minimal buttons and variables for a new vaper to learn to use. Most have only one button, used for both the on/off function and the fire function. Meaning the button can be pressed multiple times in quick succession to turn the device on or off, or held down to fire the coil and produce vapour.

Some pen style devices have fixed airflow designs, some with a tight airflow aimed towards smokers with a preference for hand rolled cigarettes, or a slightly looser design for those who favoured pre rolled cigarettes. There are also pen style devices that offer adjustable airflow designs, which can be widened or constricted according to the user’s preference. If you are unsure of what kind of airflow design you will need, pop in to your local Evapo store and speak to a member of our expert team, or head over to the guide section of our website to help you choose the perfect starter kit.

Starter kits are usually best used with 50/50 e liquids, which come in a huge range of delicious flavours, from minty menthol to sweet and fruity, and a comprehensive range of nicotine strengths. Our team will be able to help you identify what nicotine strength to start off with, based on your previous smoking habits, and what e liquid will perfectly pair with your chosen device.

We offer a range of fantastic pen style devices, from a number of leading manufacturers such as Innokin, Aspire, Vaptio, and OBS. Each of our 35+ UK stores is home to a team of vaping experts who are trained to help you identify what you need from your new vape, and recommend devices that will perfectly suit your needs. Pen vape kits FAQ

What are pen vape kits?

Pen vape kits are a type of e-cigarette with a design that resembles that of a pen, with a long, often cylindrical battery and a tank or pod on the top. Pen style devices are most often starter vape kits with a built-in battery and a relatively small and lightweight body.

This is a popular type of vape kit as the slim design makes it easy to store the device in a pocket or bag and therefore easy to travel with.

Do pen vape kits have a built-in battery?

Although there may be some exceptions to this rule, the vast majority of pen vape kits do have a built-in battery. This battery fits into the body of the device and can be recharged via USB cable.

The built-in battery used in vape kits is a form of lithium-ion battery, which are popular for small electronics like mobile phones and tablets as they are small and lightweight while still having a high energy density and can be recharged hundreds of times.

Are all pen vape kits pod systems?

Pod systems do most often have a pen style design, but not all pen vape kits are pod systems. Some instead utilise a traditional tank design, so you can choose the option that best suits your personal preferences.

Some pen vape kits with a tank have an all in one (AIO) design, which means that the tank is integrated into the battery and cannot be removed or replaced, like the Aspire PockeX. Others have a tank which screws on to the top of the battery and can be removed or replaced if needed, like the Innokin Endura T20-S.

Which e-liquid should I use in my pen vape kit?

Pen vape kits are usually best paired with a 50/50 or high PG e-liquid. This is because they are usually starter kits or pod systems which utilise small coils and need a thin e-liquid that is easy to absorb.

50/50 or high PG e-liquids have a thin consistency and this allows the coil to remain well saturated and quickly reabsorb e-liquid between puffs to avoid dry hits.
