Short fills FAQ

What are short fills?

Short fills are bottles of e-liquid that contain more than 10ml of e-liquid. They are so called because they are filled short of the top of the bottle to accommodate the addition of nicotine shots if needed by the user.

As per UK law, bottles of e-liquid that are larger than 10ml cannot contain nicotine. This means that the user must add their own nicotine in the form of nicotine shots.

As an example, a 50ml short fill will contain 50ml of nicotine free e-liquid in a 60ml bottle. This can be used as is if the user does not need nicotine, but there is room to add one 10 ml nicotine shot to the bottle. This would make 60ml of 3 mg/ml e-liquid.

Short fills are ideal if you do not need a high nicotine strength and want to be able to carry plenty of e-liquid with you without having to bring multiple little bottles.

It is important to bear in mind that short fills are designed to accommodate enough nicotine shots to produce a 3 mg/ml e-liquid, so if you need a stronger nicotine strength, short fills may not be the right option for you.

How do you use short fills?

Short fills are sold with a nicotine free formula but leaving room to allow the addition of nicotine if needed. If you prefer a nicotine free e-liquid, then short fills can be used as is in the same way you would use any other e-liquid. However, if you prefer to use a nicotine containing e-liquid, you will need to purchase nicotine shots to put in your short fills.

Each short fill leaves room to add enough nicotine shots to produce a 3 mg/ml e-liquid. For example, a 50ml short fill will come in a 60 ml bottle with room for one nicotine shot, and a 100ml short fill will come in a 120ml bottle leaving room for two nicotine shots.

They are easy to mix, simply pop the nozzle off the e-liquid bottle and off the nicotine shot bottle and empty the contents of the nicotine shot into the e-liquid bottle. Once this is done put the nozzle and lid back on to the e-liquid bottle and shake well to combine the nicotine and e-liquid together. It can then be used straight away in the same way that you would use any other e-liquid.

If you are unsure about how to use your short fill speak to a member of our team either in store or online.

Can I put nicotine in a short fill?

Yes, short fills are designed to accommodate the addition of nicotine. They can of course be used as they are sold if you prefer a nicotine free vape, but if you require nicotine, you can add nicotine shots to the bottle.

Short fills are so called because the e-liquid is filled short of the top of the bottle to leave room for a nic shot if needed. If you purchase a 50 ml short fill, this will contain 50 ml of 0 mg e-liquid in a 60 ml bottle, you can then add one 10 ml nicotine shot and shake to produce 60 ml of 3 mg/ml e-liquid.

Are all short fill e-liquids high VG?

Not all short fills have a high VG e-liquid formula, however, most short fills do. Short fills are designed to accommodate the addition of enough nicotine shots to produce a 3 mg/ml e-liquid, whereas many people who use a 50/50 or high PG e-liquid are newer vapers who require a higher nicotine strength.

UK law dictates that nicotine containing e-liquids cannot be sold in bottles larger than 10 ml, and so most 50/50 and high PG e-liquids are sold in 10 ml bottles to allow a wide range of nicotine strengths. This allows the user to choose the correct strength to satisfy their nicotine cravings and the best chance at a successful stop smoking attempt.
