About sub-ohm coils
The coil is the part of your vape kit that heats up when the device is fired, evaporating the e-liquid inside the tank and producing the vapour that you inhale. Over time, as the coil repeatedly heats up, the cotton inside will start to burn and the coil will need to be replaced with a fresh one.
Sub-ohm coils are coils that have a resistance of less than 1 ohm, and are most commonly found in intermediate and advanced vape kits.

Are sub-ohm coils only for advanced devices?
Almost all advanced vape kits are used exclusively with sub-ohm coils, but that doesn’t mean that sub-ohm coils can only be used with advanced vape kits.
There are many intermediate vape kits which offer a sub-ohm coil option and even some starter kits which have a sub-ohm coil option like the Aspire PockeX vape kit. In these cases there are usually multiple coil options available for the device, and a sub-ohm coil is just one of the options available so you can experiment with the different coils to see which one best suits your personal preferences.
Are sub-ohm coils more powerful than standard coils?
Sub-ohm coils can usually be used at a higher wattage than coils with a higher resistance, meaning they can handle more power. However, how much power the coil can handle depends on the individual coil, so it is important to check the recommended wattage range before using your coil.
The recommended wattage range lets you know the wattage range at which the coil will perform best. Running the coil at too high of a wattage may cause it to burn out faster, or even immediately, and running it too low can cause leaking. You can find the recommended wattage range on the box the coil came in, and it is also often printed in small print on the side of the coil.
Can all vape kits use sub-ohm coils?
No, not all vape kits can facilitate sub-ohm vaping. You can usually find the resistance range that the device can facilitate in the specifications for the device, which will indicate if it can run a sub-ohm coil.
If the device cannot facilitate sub-ohm vaping and you attempt to use it with a sub-ohm coil it may not work as vape kits have built-in safety features that prevent improper use.
