Happy New Year from Evapo, have you decided as a new year’s resolution to give up smoking? The NHS has launched a campaign called ‘SMOKEFREE’ which anyone who’s aware of StopTober will be very familiar with!

With a range of support from the NHS via channels such as email, text, facebook messenger, in person and even an app; there are plenty of support options available to anyone who is looking at stopping smoking this new year.

Featuring an array of success stories all using different methods; including the use of e-cigarettes! Here at Evapo we’re very happy to see the NHS promoting and supporting the vaping industry as an effective treatment for harm reduction in this campaign & their previous support with StopTober; we wrote a blogpost on the StopTober campaign – you can read it here!

Public Health England’s 2015 did an independent evidence review which found that, based on the available evidence, vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking; The Royal College of Physicians came to a similar conclusion in their 2016 report also.

How safe are e-cigarettes in the UK?

There are several rules in place that cover e-cigarettes in the UK to make sure they’re safe for consumers and don’t advertise to the wrong people.

Every device, piece of hardware, e liquid & more must meet the standards of safety and quality & require clear labels on packaging; this is why you will see vape kits come with nicotine warnings on - although they effectively have none until filled with your favourite e liquid. An example, all vaping tanks must be designed to not leak, whereas previous this wasn’t necessary.

Will vapour harm the people around me?

Currently there is no evidence to back up vapour causing harm to others via second hand; being in the same room as someone vaping. However, with the evidence available the indication was made that any risk of harm that could potentially come from being in a room full of vapour extremely low in comparison to standard second-hand tobacco smoke.

Do vape kits pose a risk for fire or exploding?

The answer is NO, so do not worry! Vape kits and e-cigarettes do NOT pose a risk if they are maintained and you're aware of battery safety ; most batteries from reputable brands have several forms of battery protection to prevent the device getting to that stage in the first place.

Battery safety is the main reason for the media reports of fire/explosions caused by e-cigarettes; when the full evidence is released it was clear that most of these cases where human error or devices brought from cheap manufacturers/retailers.

Here at Evapo we promote battery safety at ALL times & also recommend you purchase any vape kits or e liquid from a reputable retailer as otherwise you’ll never know one hundred percent of any potential risks; by using a reputable retailer you can ensure safety to yourself and have any questions answered in an instant to put your mind at rest. Remember to lock your device when it's not in use!

What types of E-Cigarettes / Vape Kits are there?

With the Vape industry growing at such a fast pace there are a variety of devices available and being brought out on a monthly basis from different manufacturers across the globe.

Multinational professional services company EY stated that according to their 7 market study of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) they saw an increase of 800% since 2010; standing at £6.1 Billion worldwide estimated at £12 Billion by 2020 it is quite clearly a growing industry.

Generally, there are a few styles of kits: tiny kits that resemble the size of a cigarette or credit card, pen-style, mods also known as box mods and many more.

Usually most consumers start on the smaller devices and work their way up the scale from beginner vape kit to advance if they find it works for them!
